DVD distribution

We will be making a series of 5-10 minute videos profiling the sustainable technology and individuals who have been making an impact in sustainability.  Once all of our videos have been completed, we will produce a DVD that includes each video.  We plan to distribute our videos in several ways:

1.  Each individual video will be posted on our YouTube page (www.YouTube.com/OurRenewableNation) and each video will be embedded on our www.OurRenewableNation.org website via YouTube.  This is free and is the easiest way for people to get immediate access to our videos, although the quality for streaming video is not the same as video on DVD.

2.  Amazon.com offers a retail DVD sales service where they will list, produce, and sell a DVD through their website.  This is a low-cost way to distribute an independent DVD.  Normally Amazon.com will charge their set price and send you a check for the profit at the end of each month, but in order to keep our DVD as low-cost as possible, we will not take any profit from the sales of the DVD.

3.  Copy freely - We will be encouraging anyone who has a copy of the DVD to copy and distribute it to friends and family.  Most computers now come with DVD burners, and DVD-R blanks are now very inexpensive.

-Once the DVD is finished, we will be distributing it where we give presentations.  The group can sponsor a purchase for a given number of DVDs or we can bring some to sell at cost.

-Any organization that wishes to distribute the DVD to its members can order a given amount through the Amazon.com retail service at a bulk discount rate.

-At the end of the travel project, any additional funds remaining will go toward purchasing DVD copies for libraries.  Many libraries have regional distribution networks, which would make it easy for each library to get a copy.  While we can use our home computer to make some DVD copies, we can't get into making large-volume copies to distribute with just our home computer.
